From Millennium Technology Inc. This open C-shaped MRI system eases patient comfort and technologist maneuverability. This low cost scanner is build for a wide range of applications. The Virgo™ patient table is detachable and moves on easy rolling castors. Able to accommodate patient weights up to 160 kg, the tabletop has a range of motion of 30 cm in the lateral direction and 90cm in the longitudinal direction. Images generated with this scanner can only be viewed (without data loss) on Millennium's proprietary viewing software.

(2D TOF MRA) This form of MR angiography is based on the acquisition of multiple, short-TR, gradient echo single slice images. 2D TOF MRA is the preferred technique for visualizing slow flow, how for example it happens in veins. 2D TOF MRA consists of multiple sequentially-acquired single slices, therefore the saturation effects are minimized.

Patient movement during the scans are often an imaging problem. Artifacts from patient movement are widely varied due to a dependence when during k-space filling the motion occurs. When the patient moving causes only in the last few seconds of the scan at that time the outside edges of K-space were being filled, and as a result the artifact does not overly affect the image (there are only fine lines).

A good cooperation between the patient and the operator is the best way to avoid these artifacts, in difficult cases a sedative may help. If a compliance of the patient is not possible (e.g. pain, stroke, or consciousness), choose fast scan methods like gradient echo or single shot technique.

Automatic bolus detection is used to trigger the begin of the MRI scan with the time the contrast agent reaches the region of interest. The acquisition process is started once the signal is increased in this region. There are similar methods used by the scanner manufacturer (see MRI Acronyms for Automatic Bolus Detection). After injection of the contrast agent the region of interest is monitored (e.g. with a spin echo or gradient echo sequence). When the signal increases the scan is automatically triggered or the operator is informed.
