(NPW / PNW - Phase No Wrap) If the receiving RF coil is sensitive to tissue signal arising from outside the desired FOV, this undesired signal may be incorrectly mapped, or wrapped back to a location within the image and is seen as artifact. This problem occurs in the phase encoding direction, where the phases of signal-bearing tissues outside of the FOV in the y-direction are a replication of the phases that are encoded within the FOV.
A user-selectable para meter maps this signal to its correct location outside the FOV, then discards any signal from outside the FOV before displaying the image. No phase wrap works by filling k-space to the same extent, using twice as many phase encoding steps. In order to be able to choose this para meter, in most cases more than an average is necessary.

Manufactured by Esaote S.p.A.;
a low field open MRI scanner with permanent magnet for orthopedic use. The outstanding feature of this MRI system is a patient friendly design with 24 cm dia meter, which allows the imaging of extremities and small body parts like shoulder MRI. The power consumption is around 1.3 kW and the needed minimum floor space is an area of 16 sq m.
At RSNA 2006 Hologic Inc. introduced a new dedicated extremity MRI scanner, the Opera. Manufactured by Esaote is the Opera a redesign of Esaote's 0.2 Tesla E-Scan XQ platform, which now enables complete imaging of all extremities, including hip and shoulder applications. 'Real-time positioning' reportedly speeds patient setup and reduces exam times.
Esaote North America and Hologic Inc are the U.S. distributors of this MRI device.

A pixel is a picture element (pix, abbreviation of pictures + element). Tomographic images are composed of several pixels. The corresponding size of the pixel may be smaller than the actual spatial resolution. Pixels do not have a fixed size; their dia meters are generally measured in micro meters (microns). Although the pixel is not a unit of measurement itself, pixels are often used to measure the resolution (or sharpness) of images. As a hypothetical example, a 600 x 1000 pixel image has 4 times the pixel density and is thus 4 times sharper than a 300 x 500 pixel image, assuming the two images have the same physical size. | | | | • View the DATABASE results for 'Pixel' (68).
