Dialysis pt and Artifacts
We are having an artifact or loss of signal when we do some dialysis patients spine work. Both of our machines are GE 1.5 and a 3t. It does not happen on all dialysis patients only a few but the images will come out completely dark. We typically do not have any issues with our spine imaging. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of this? Any suggestions on how to fix, it is worse on the 3t of course.

GE 8 channel Body Coil Artifact
Have a GE 1.5T HDxt. Problem: experiencing symmetric artifacts in abdominal images. Artifact seen in most anterior images: Some are rectangular in appearance, another reminds me of a plastic knife. All patients are changed in gowns/pants prior to entry into MRI suite. The body coil in question has been changed 3 times but the artifact remains. I suspect this is a hardware reconstruction issue, however, the engineer thinks it is operator error. I have run this sequence with and without options. This is an SSFSE, breath hold sequence. Has anyone encountered this issue?

Susceptibility artifact query
As an MRI 'newbie' would someone be willing to help me with a question on magnetic susceptibility. If you have two metal implants of the same external geometrical form but one of these is hollow, would you you get the same size artifact? I'm basically wondering whether a metallic implant has a finite sphere of influence or whether it is compounded by the volume of material. Much appreciated, Jon

Artifact in Abdomen LAVA
This artifact appears on every slice of an abdomen LAVA scan, and it looks like puzzle pieces. The artifact was gone in a re-scan using similar parameters. Does any one has an idea what might have caused it? Thanks.
