Slew Rate
It's about how fast the gradient coil reaches the amplitude. It's the steepness of the curve. The time it takes to reach this amplitude is often referred to as "rise time".

At certain high slew rates the gradient switching is so fast that peripheral nerves get stimulated. A warning may be given like "possible peripheral nerve stimulation". It's not really dangerous, but you can feel your muscles contract a little. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.

What is the difference between rapid coil, multiple array and QD coil?
And which one is the best?

We fold up wash cloths and put pads against those. The little ones kinda like there head to be snugged in the coil. Also they like to be warm, try turning off the bore fan and warm the room a little. Good Luck!

Head Coil
A researcher who uses our system got a post card from a company:
http://www.insightneuroimaging.com/
He asked me if I have ever heard of them, and I thought I saw them at ISMRM but I don’t remember. Their head coil looks like more of an fMRI coil, but the lack of material in front of the face looks really nice for patients.

Neil,

I think you're talking about the edges of the shimmed volume of the magnet, or the coil.

Magnets are shimmed to a specific volume in the field (every model magnet is different). When you attempt to scan an object that reaches the edge of this volume you will see distortion from imaging the unshimmed area of the magnet.

Also shimming large objects that exceed the range of the receiver portion of the coil will cause distortions.

Hopefully this answers your question?

Good Luck,
Dan McGuan
