mri per diem tech
Hi Steve....I would like to apply for this position. I am an MRI Technologist for the past 2 years, BLS certified, and IV access certified. I have Siemens open magnet experience, but I am interested learning a new magnet. Please email me information regarding about this position at gee_cast@sbcglobal.net

Thanks

Gerald

MRI study guide for a physics dummy
Berlex has a GREAT MRI study guide for "beginners". It really puts things in layman's terms. Don't feel bad. I wouldn't love the book so much if I didn't need it too. :)

Regarding recovery and decay [basic phycisc]
Right on.

Recovery and delay are two separate physical processes like the last guy said. It had me stumped for a while when I was studying as well. But read carefully and think hard about it...

T1 recovery is the return of net magnetization into alignment with b0.

T2 decay is a totally different process and is, as the previous person said, simply loss of net magnetization in the transverse plain due to dephasing. The more electrons that are precessing in phase in the transverse plane, the stronger the NMV is in that plane. And, hence forth, when the RF pulse terminates, the influence of b0 gradually dephases the electrons in the transverse plane. As they dephase, the transverse NMV decreases accordingly, until the next pulse hits, rephasing the electrons and starting the process all over.

Hope that helps. MRI physics is hairy and boring at times. Load up on expressos to stay awake and stick with it, because studying MRI physics can be like taking a bottle of sleeping pills.

Mobile MRI - Keeping Magnet Cold
Hi
Majority of mobile MRI scanners got onboard generators.
Once you plug off scanner from main external pawer onboard generator will start automaticly.
It keeps chiler running during the transport.
Onboard generator alows you switch on the system , but I wouldn't scan using onboard generator. This is just to keep running system when power supply failure.

Mobile MRI - Keeping Magnet Cold
Will,
When a mobile MRI Scanner is in motion going from site to site a "ramp down" is performed before moving. This is when the magnetic field is lowered but not completely shut off. The field still keeps it's integrity due to the Cryogens that surround it. When it comes to the new site, a "ramp up" is performed to bring the magnetic strength back up to par. Bottom line...The Cryogens are not boiled off and keep the magnet cold when it is motion. If the magnet were to suddenly lose it's power, it could be due to a cryogen boil off.
