When to shim?
On what sequences should a shim volume be added? (GE scanner)

Muscle shading in 3T Images
Try running a B1 Map followed by Calibration. Set RF Drive mode to Optimized. This is supposed to optimize for your Patient. Supposed to reduce dielectric effect/shading for Lumbar and Abdomen.
You can find under GE Additional Abdomen Sequences.

Or you can run Ideal with Dixon technique. Turn on IN phase will give you T1 FS & IN Phase is you plane T1. I believe this takes care of the artifact.

Drawing MRI sequence
Does anyone know of existing LaTeX macros or packages or any other software for drawing Magnetic Resonance Imaging pulse sequences?
I didn't find anything online. Thank you so much for your help!

Contrast on an 3T
Studies (for example http://pubs.rsna.org/doi/full/10.1148/radiol.2373041672 , http://pubs.rsna.org/doi/full/10.1148/rg.287075154 ) suggest that contrast enhancement of gadolinium is increased at higher field strengths. That can be used to lower the dose or receive higher contrast effects. It also depends on the contrast sensitivity of the used sequences and the examined body part.

is this kind of zebra artifact?
Looks more like a Zipper artifact. Can be caused by electronic noise. Switch off all light bulbs, remove all electronic equipment from the scanner room, make sure that the door is really closed (clean the contacts between door and jam if necessary) and try again. If the artifact consists control the penetration panel where the cables enter the room and the faraday cage, it is possible that there is a leak in the RF shield. If the artifact remains with all coils and sequences you need the service to repair the problem.
