The mobile intraoperative iMotion system produces real-time images used for MR guided surgery and offers functional magnetic resonance imaging, MR spectroscopy, perfusion imaging, and diffusion weighted imaging capabilities.
The iMotion 1.5 T magnet moves to the patient, gliding in and out of place as needed, without affecting surgical, anesthetic, and nursing management.

Adjusting the electrical impedance of two circuits that are to be joined at an interface so that they are equal, e.g. with a matching network.

Implants that involve magnets such as magnetic sphincters, stoma plugs, dental implants, etc., can be demagnetized by the MRI device. They should be removed prior to the examination.

A particular danger is presented by small metallic surgical implants. Haemostatic or other clips in the CNS can move in their position. Dislocation by magnetic attraction or torque presents a risk in MRI examinations. There is a minimal risk in other parts of the body, because after the healing phase of six to eight weeks, fibrosis and encasement of the clip help to keep it in a stable position.
The label stainless steel is not a guarantee for non-ferromagnetic steel.

IMRIS® is a Canadian manufacturer of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems for use in neurosurgical operating rooms. The 1.5T intra-operative system, developed by IMRIS, is the only system of its kind in the world. This patented, intra-operative system, is designed so that the magnet moves over the patient for imaging (before, during and after surgery), and then is retracted to allow complete surgical access to the patient.

MRI Scanners:

1.5T:

Water and fat signals being in or out of phase result from the gradient echo method and the slight difference in resonance frequencies of the protons. At 1.5 T, the water and fat signal are in phase when TE is an even multiple, and out of phase when TE is an odd multiple of 2.3 ms. With FFE Imaging, it is often advisable to use a TE value equal or close to an in phase value.
1.5T: IN PHASE = 4.6, 9.2, 13.8, 18.4, 23.0 ms
1.0T: IN PHASE = 6.9, 13.8, 20.7, 27.6 ms
0.5T: IN PHASE = 13.8, 27.6 ms
